2019 is over and 2020 is here.
Soon it will be spring and I will start my examen project. Which I’m excited to do but it’s a bit scary to be done with school and the truth is. That I don’t know what I’m going to do next. I have ideas and dreams. But I don’t have a plan. I want to work but I want to learn so much more about tailoring, textil, designing and of cause Life.
At the moment I’m working with my client project. Which is a historic coat from the end of 1700 century. I have designed a pattern which fit the client wishes and ideas.
I have had two fittings one in canvas and one in the real fabric. And the last fitting was good. So I have started to sew.
It’s the same steps as the blazer. With som few differenties.
The fabric is recycled wadmal. It’s a very friendly material to work with. The only problem is that it’s thick.
My client has chosen a very blue colour for the fabric. It is very nice to work with colour specially when it’s cloudy outside.
The coat is double-breasted and will have around 11 buttons and 6 button for the pockets and maybe also the cuff will get some.
Historic are buttons a symbol for how wealthy you are. Because before buttons was very expensive. It’s starting to be expensive to buy buttons today too. So maybe it will return again (the symbol for wealth)
My client is going to use the coat as a daily coat. That’s really cool I think specially in Scandinavian where we often only have dark clothes in the closet.
I will tell more about the coat – here are some photos of the coat in the making.
